Autoresponders

Autoresponders

An autoresponder is a pre-determined message with information you want automatically sent to anyone who emails a designated email address/mailbox at your domain. When an email is sent TO: an address/mailbox that you have assigned an autorespond message to, the autoresponder automatically sends the reply you specify.
If the sender CC:s or BCC:s the address/mailbox that you have assigned an autorespond message to, the autorespond message will NOT be sent.

You can easily create an autoresponder with the "Autoresponders" section of the SiteMadeEasy Web Control Panel provided with your domain.

Adding an Autoresponder

1. Put the email address you would like to have an autoresponder come from in the "Email Address" field (omit the '@' and the domain name - e.g., for [email protected] just enter fred).
2. Enter the subject of the message you would like people to receive when they email TO: the autoresponder address.
3. Enter the body of the message you would like people to receive when they email TO: the autoresponder address.
4. Click "Save Autoresponder". You can always edit, view, or delete it later.
5. Give it 15 minutes to take effect, then send an email to that address to make sure it works!

Editing an Autoresponder

To edit an autoresponder, simply click on one of your autoresponders (this assumes that you have already setup autoresponders) and click on Edit Autoresponder.

This fills in the fields in the "Add/Edit AutoResponder" section of the screen. Make changes as desired and click "Save Autoresponder".

Deleting an Autoresponder

To delete an autoresponder, simply click on one of your autoresponders and click on Delete Autoresponder.

Vacation Autoresponders

To setup an autoresponder to automatically send replies when an address/user is on vacation, simply create an autoresponder with the same name as the address/user who is on vacation. When someone sends an email TO: that address/user, the autoreplies will be sent and the user will still receive all incoming emails. Remember to delete the autoresponder when the user is back from vacation.

Notes:

  • There is no limit to the number of Autoresponders you may have.
  • Be sure to give them each a unique name ("email address") of 3-16 characters.
  • You may create an autoresponder named identical to a POP account (user) name. When email is sent TO: the POP account name, the auto response will be returned to the sender, and the sender's original email will be delivered to the POP account.
  • You may create an autoresponder named identical to an "alias" address which you are using on the email forwarding screen of Plusmail (in the first column - "address"). When email is sent TO: the "alias" name, the auto response will be returned to the sender, and the sender's original email will be forwarded as is set up on the forwarding screen.
  • IF an autoresponder is setup for a POP account (user) name OR for an "alias" name, and an email is CC: or BCC: to that name, NO auto response will be returned to the sender, and the email will NOT be delivered via the CC: or BCC:.
